A delightful but slightly different pie crust that tastes a lot like chocolate animal crackers. Perfect for tarts.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 1/2 tbsp COLD water
- 1/2 egg
- 1/2 tbsp white vinegar
- 1/8 cup sugar
Directions
- Combine cocoa powder, flour and salt.
- Cut in the vegetable shortening.
- Add sugar.
- Mix water, egg and vinegar together.
- Combine your wets and your dries.
- Roll out between parchment paper.
- Place in tin/pie plate.
- If blind baking, bake at 425F with weights. Time will vary, 20-25 min generally works.
