Chocolate Pie Crust

A delightful but slightly different pie crust that tastes a lot like chocolate animal crackers. Perfect for tarts.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 1/2 tbsp COLD water
  • 1/2 egg
  • 1/2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/8 cup sugar

Directions

  1. Combine cocoa powder, flour and salt.
  2. Cut in the vegetable shortening.
  3. Add sugar.
  4. Mix water, egg and vinegar together.
  5. Combine your wets and your dries.
  6. Roll out between parchment paper.
  7. Place in tin/pie plate.
  8. If blind baking, bake at 425F with weights. Time will vary, 20-25 min generally works.
